28/03/07 Drifting set to be showcased at Wakefield Park Raceway this Weekend:
One of the newest and fastest growing forms of Motorsport in not only Australia, but also around the world is Drifting, and for this weekend’s (March 30 – April 1) Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series round at Goulburn’s Wakefield Park Raceway (NSW) there is going to be some spectacular demonstrations over the three-day event.
What can only be best described as excitement plus as the Motorsport of Drifting is all about getting their car as sideways as possible with the most amount of control in order to score the maximum amount of points.
For this Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series round at Wakefield Park Raceway a total of 12 drift cars, ranging from Nissan Skyline’s to VL Holden Commodore’s, will take to the 2.2km circuit at various stages of the weekend to perform demonstrations.
Amongst the field is leading Drift Australia competitors, Beau Yates, Darren Appleton and Leighton Fine, along with a host of domestic based drift competitors whom are all eager to put on a spectacular show.
“For those that haven’t seen drifting before are going to be in for a treat, as it is a truly amazing spectacle seeing it first hand,” enthused James Migoc, the president of the Initial Drift in NSW.
“In competition there are normally two cars running off, so to have 12 cars out on the circuit at once around somewhere like Wakefield Park Raceway is certainly going to make for some spectacular demonstrations.”
